Antwine currently serves as General Counsel for El Paso Children’s Hospital and
brings over two decades of legal experience to her role on the El Paso Women’s Bar
Association Board. A licensed attorney
since 2003, Ms. Antwine has dedicated her career to public service and legal
education in the El Paso community.
She has
served in various legal capacities, including as Senior Trial Attorney for the
El Paso County Attorney’s Office, Trial Team Chief at the El Paso District
Attorney’s Office, Associate Municipal Judge for the City of El Paso, solo practitioner,

decade as an adjunct instructor at both the University of Texas at El Paso and
El Paso Community College, designed and taught law courses for the Libertas
Academy at Americas High School, and coaches the Austin High School Mock Trial

Carey was
born and raised in El Paso where she graduated from Hanks High School (Go Knights!). She began her postsecondary education at the
University of Texas at Austin where she majored in music but transferred to San
Diego State University after moving with her husband, who served in the U.S. Navy,
to San Diego, California. She went on to
earn a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in Music from SDSU
and a Juris Doctorate from St. Mary’s University School of Law.
When she’s
not immersed in health law or mentoring young attorneys, Carey enjoys her other
full-time roles as wife of 27 years, mom to two amazing children, and proud
“dog mom” to four extremely energetic Australian Shepherds. She’s been known to belt out a power ballad or
Broadway tune at karaoke nights and believes in the restorative power of family,
music, and a good sci-fi or fantasy book.
